International English Language Testing System(IELTS) scores are given in the forms of bands out of 9. The test evaluates your proficiency in the English language. Hence, there is no pass or fail in IELTS.
A Test Report Form(TRF) is issued to the candidate with details of the test scores. IELTS scores are trusted and accepted by almost all English-Speaking countries across the globe by institutions, businesses, and governments.
TRF shows the test scores for all the four skills-Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking along with the overall band score, the average score of all the four skills.
IELTS is a multi-level exam. You get a score between 1 and 9 for each section. Half scores are also possible(for example 6.5/7.5). Scores ending in 0.25 will be rounded up to the nearest half band, and scores of 0.75 will be rounded off to the nearest whole band.
You can see your provisional IELTS result online, 13 days after your test day. it will remain available for 28 days thereafter. The TRF will be posted to your address within the next 14 days.
There is a specific IELTS test for UK visas and immigration(UKVI). If you are looking to work or study in the UK, you need to take IELTS for UKVI academic or general training and IELTS life skills. The test must be taken under the conditions set by UK visas and immigration. You will receive the TRF which shows that you have taken the test under UKVI requirements.
You can register for the IELTS test online, in person or by post.
Online: either through BC or IDP websites.
In-Person: Find your nearest branch/input nodes.
By Post: Fill in the downloaded application form and send it along with the DD of the required fee.
The candidate is entitled to receive an original TRF, unless you are applying to citizenship and immigration Canada(CIC) or United Kingdom Border Agency(UKBA). In this case, two copies are issued. Proof of the same must be provided.
A candidate may request up to five additional TRF’s to be sent to receiving institutions within a month of taking the IELTS test.
